Philip began his building apprenticeship in 1981 in Nelson. He gained experience working for other house building companies before starting Philip Hay Builder around two decades ago. Philip has worked on many older homes around Nelson as well as undertaking new home builds. He moved Philip Hay Builder to Christchurch after the earthquakes when he was commissioned to restore a classic 1920s villa. Philip is Licensed Building Practitioner and member of New Zealand Certified Builders. He is joined in the business by son Kirk who is currently completing his apprenticeship with Philip Hay Builder.
